he southermost city of Key West is home to the only haunted Hard
Rock Cafe in the world. This beautifully constructed and restored
building was built by Florida's first millionaire, William Curry, as a
wedding gift for his son, Robert. Robert's story is quite sad.
Stricken by various illnesses and sickly throughout his life, Robert
eventually found himself in control of the Curry family fortune. Not
the best of businessmen, and likely due to his chronic poor health,
the family fortune dwindled and Robert eventually committed
suicide in the second floor restroom. This ornate structure remains
haunted today, as evidenced by the many continuing stories and
tales reported to us by Hard Rock employees. Click below to hear
the story of Mike, a Hard Rock manager, who met Robert for
himself one night while closing down the bar. Also click below to
hear our very own Jason telling the tale of the late Robert Curry, as
he does nightly on The Original Ghost Tour of Key West.
